PM Shehbaz picks MQM-P’s Nasreen Jalil for Governor Sindh slot


ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has sent summaries to President Dr Arif Alvi to appoint Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Nasreen Jalil as Sindh Governor.

Senator Nasreen Jalil will be sworn in as Sindh governor after the proposal is approved by the country’s president, according to the details.

It is important to note here that the MQM-P leader will be the first woman in Pakistan to hold the post of any provincial governor.

It is worth mentioning here that Nasreen Jalil was born in Lahore, her father Zafar-ul-Ahsan was the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore during the British Indian Empire in 1947 and he later served as an Indian Civil Service (ICS) officer.

The MQM-P leader was twice nominated to the upper house of parliament and chaired numerous committees including finance, revenue, economic affairs and more.

Nasreen Jalil was the party’s deputy convenor and served the party as a dynamic activist.
