PM announces solar panels for Gwadar’s power consumers

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced to provide solar panels to domestic consumers in Gwadar.

He chaired a meeting in Islamabad today [Friday] to review the progress of the transmission line project in Balochistan.
The prime minister said that these solar panels will be a gift from the federal government to the people of Gwadar. He said the government will spare no effort to facilitate the people of Gwadar.
The Prime Minister directed the development of strategies for offshore and onshore wind power projects in Gwadar.
Uninterrupted power supply will be ensured, making Gwadar port the most modern port in the world, he said.
Shehbaz Sharif instructed to expedite the completion of work on the transmission line in Southern Balochistan by December this year. He said any inadvertent delays to power projects would not be tolerated.
The Prime Minister also directed relevant ministries to ensure that time and costs are minimised in long-term projects.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, Minister of Power Engineer Kulam Dastgill and senior officials, giving details of Jiwani, Gwadar, Pasni, Olmara, Pan Construction of the transmission line between Jigur and Iran.
The meeting was informed that within six months, the government will be able to supply an additional 100 megawatts of electricity from Iran to Gwadar, bringing the total supply to 260 megawatts.
The meeting was informed that when the Khuzdal-Bangigur transmission line is completed in December this year, it will supply 90 megawatts of electricity to the region.
The meeting was also briefed on the Hub Ormara transmission line, which will add a further 200 megawatts of power when completed.
