ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday ended the case of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Daniyal Aziz over his rival Tariq Anees petition.
The case was presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Omar Atta Bandyar with three seats.
During the hearing, CJP Umar Ata Bandiyaal commented, “What is the purpose of proving that a lost candidate is a fraudster”.
Meanwhile, Daniyal Aziz’s lawyer told the court that Tariq Anees lost the 2013 and 2018 elections, and the CJP said “there is nothing to be punished for those who were rejected by the masses in the previous two elections.”
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah said 13 years had passed and even the five-year sentence had now been served.
It is to be mentioned here that Daniyal Aziz has filed a petition against Tariq Anees alleging forgery and corruption in the 2008 elections.
