Beijing: According to the official, Pakistan’s rice exports to China (HS Code 1006) in 2021 exceeded US$400 million, a year-on-year increase of 133%, and in the first five months of last year, Pakistan remained China’s largest supplier of rice from Data from the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC).
Badar Uzi Zaman, commercial counselor at the Pakistani embassy in Beijing, has previously said that in the next few years, his goal is to achieve 1 million tons of rice. He wants Pakistan to be the biggest player in this market.
China imported about 973,000 tonnes of rice from Pakistan this year, worth $437 million.
Pakistan has added 7 rice exporters to 53 last year, and China has eased import restrictions on Pakistani rice to help rice be exported to China.
