No-trust motion an attempt at a bargaining chip for fresh deal: Qureshi

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Sunday that the no-confidence motion was announced as a bargaining chip for a new deal.

Responding to the opposition’s planned act of no-confidence on Twitter, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said lawmakers from the PTI and coalition parties would collectively thwart attempts to evade accountability.

He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has consistently stated that there is no possibility of an NRO.

A day earlier, President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Mian Shehbaz Sharif had sought support of Jahangir Tareen for no-confidence motion during a secret meeting.

According to the source, the meeting between the two leaders lasted for several hours and the leader of the opposition party in the National Assembly offered Jahangir Tallinn to cooperate with PML-N even after the no-confidence motion.
