Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chairman and National Assembly opposition leader Sheikh Baz Sharif said on Friday that no one can stop them from using their “constitutional right” to a no-confidence motion.

He was subpoenaed in the Saaf Paani case but was arrested in the Ashiana Housing scandal and he was defamed in front of the country, the PML-N leader said in a media interview.

I am accused of embezzling billions of rupees in the Saaf Paani project. Everyone was acquitted, but engineer Raja was detained and sent to jail, he said.

Shehbaz Sharif said the court’s ruling on the Saaf Pani project was a victory for us, claiming he saved the country money. I will face three and a half years of trial in the case, he continued.

People are suffering due to rising inflation in the country, the PML-N chairman said. He said poverty had increased during the tenure of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

Shehbaz Sharif said Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s relationship with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has taken a toll on the country’s economy.
