ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly will vote on a motion of no confidence in Prime Minister Imran Khan tomorrow (Saturday) at 10:30 am, as ordered by the Supreme Court.
The vote on the no-confidence motion was fourth on the six-point agenda in the National Assembly (NA) agenda released on Friday.
The Supreme Court reinstated Parliament a day earlier after announcing the government’s dissolution of Parliament and a ruling by Parliament Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri on the constitution.
The Supreme Court has ordered NA Speaker Assad al-Qasir to convene a meeting by 10:30am on Saturday (April 9) to allow a vote on the no-confidence motion against the prime minister.
The Supreme Court also “declared that the General Assembly has always existed and will continue to exist”.
The apex court also stated that the speaker cannot prorogue the assembly and bring the session to an end if the no-trust motion fails or after a new prime minister is elected if a no-confidence motion is passed.
