Govt prepares to increase basic electricity tariff by 95 paisas

NEPRA hikes power tariff by whopping Rs4.30 per unit


ISLAMABAD: When the National Electricity Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) of Pakistan decided on Thursday to increase electricity tariffs by Rs 4.30 based on monthly fuel adjustments, it was already overwhelmed by inflation, rising oil prices, food.

According to an order, the electricity price increase will not apply to K-Electric customers and lifeline consumers.

Notification from NEPRA will receive the additional amount on the January bill.

The rate hike will put an additional burden of billions of rupees on power consumers.
