Lahore: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) issued a warrant for the arrest of the former prime minister and Pakistani Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Supreme Nawaz Sharif on Mir Shakeel-ur -Rehman land transaction case.
The source said that the anti-corruption monitoring agency also decided to sue to the Accountability Court, declaring the former prime minister a fugitive.
The source also said that despite being called many times, Nawaz Sharif did not appear before the anti-corruption agency and failed to provide answers to the National Bank questionnaire.
In March, the country ’s highest anti-corruption agency arrested Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman. NAB accused him of having secret land distribution more than 30 years ago.
National Bank spokesman Nawazish Ali said the media mogul ’s arrest was related to the secret allocation of a 54-carnal piece of land by the then CM Nawaz Sharif government in 1986.
The National Bank has been investigating his fraudulent activities. NAB said that he was arrested before he failed to submit a satisfactory response to the Bureau ’s question.
In 1986, during the time when the former Chief Minister Nawaz Sharif was in office, he was accused of obtaining waivers on 54 lands in Johar Town, Lahore.
