Load shedding in country due to gross mismanagement of previous govt: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the country is facing loadshedding due to the gross mismanagement and incompetence of previous government, expressing the commitment to address the situation at the earliest.

Speaking in the National Assembly on Saturday, the prime minister said he had several meetings with the oil, power and finance ministries over the past few days, and that the country now has the capacity to produce 35,000 megawatts of electricity. .This is enough for our electricity needs. However, he lamented the shutdown of the power plant due to gas shortages. He pointed out that the previous administration did not buy gas when it was purchased at three to four dollars per unit. He said gasoline prices have reached thirty to thirty-five dollars per unit today.
The Prime Minister recalled that the previous government of PML(N) had signed a gas import agreement with Qatar at a discount, which the previous government of PTI had expressed dissatisfaction with.
Shehbaz Sharif said he this morning visited the Rawal Chowk flyover project, which must be completed within 24 months at a cost of Rs 100 crore. He said we completed several of these projects in Punjab in seventy-two to eighty-two days.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, who chaired the meeting before the oath of the new speaker, confirmed that Qasim Khan Suri had resigned as deputy speaker. Therefore, he said, there was no need to accept the no-confidence motion against him on the agenda today.
The Chairman instructed the National Assembly Secretariat to submit to him the resignations of PTI members based on previous rulings and precedents in order to move the matter forward in accordance with the law.
