Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday extended the temporary bail period granted to the opposition leader of the National Assembly Shebaz Sharif to July 23.
The court accepted the request of the PML-N leader to extend the bail period and agreed to delay the hearing of the case due to Shehbaz’s request because his lawyer was not present.
President PML-N spoke to the media after appearing in court and said that he felt uncomfortable due to illness. “I came because I respect the court. Political activities are carried out at my own expense.”
At the last hearing on July 7, Shehbaz’s lawyer Amjad Pervez told the court that PML-N leaders were negative for the virus.
“Shehbaz Sharif is 69 years old and his antibodies test is necessary,” said Tarar, the other counsel for the PML-N president. He added that people after recovering from the virus witnessed pain for five more days, adding that his client has also complained of the same.
Tarar has asked the court to extend the bail granted to Shehbaz for another three weeks because the lawyer wants his client to appear in court in person.
The court adjourned the trial and gave the lawyer time to negotiate with their client and listen to the client’s instructions.
