LHC conducts hearing of petition filed by Hamza over CM Punjab oath issue

LHC declares plea to hold referendum for presidential system inadmissible

Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday declared inadmissible a petition to hold a referendum for the country’s presidential system.

Based on the six-page written judgment, Judge Jawad Hassan said the court could only issue orders under Article 199 of the constitution.

The judge noted that there was neither reference to any second party to whom we could issue instructions in this case, nor any law established in this regard.

Therefore, the plaintiffs’ appeal conflicts with the basic structure of the Constitution, he added.
