JI’s Karachi sit-in enters day 7 as party vows to expand protests across Sindh

Karachi: JI Karachi’s sit-in against the Sindh Local Government (Amendment) Bill 2021 entered day seven on Thursday, as the party vowed to expand its protests across Sindh.

JI Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said the Sindh government has not devolved its powers to the local government. “With the powers that are left, the mayor cannot even sweep the streets.”

The JI Karachi chief said the provincial government had taken over the transport system, dispensaries, Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Sobhraj Maternity Hospital, and solid waste management.

In response to the allegations made by the PPP Minister, he said: “We are not a race-based political party, we do not promote race […] Your (PPP) political style is obsessed with corruption, and we believe in the people involved. “
