Internet speed in Pakistan to be affected in days to come, says PTA

The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) said on Tuesday that internet speeds in the country will slow down on April 21.

Citing the slow pace, the PTA said in a statement that a power reconfiguration exercise on a section of the international submarine cable SMW4 will take place between 2pm and 7pm.

The PTA noted that some internet users may experience slowdowns and said it will take additional steps to provide users with uninterrupted internet service to meet capacity requirements.

The telecommunications authority added that it will work to ensure that the internet is fully functional as soon as possible.

In February, a cable in a submarine cable system nearly 400 kilometers off the coast of Pakistan was cut, also causing a nationwide internet outage.
