Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League President Nawaz (PML-N) and Opposition Leader Sheikh Baz Sharif called the rise in electricity and ghee prices another U-turn for Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan, saying Imran Niazi kept his traditions.
He said in the statement that the monthly increase of Rs 5.94 per unit of electricity price is a foreign conspiracy of the PTI government against the people, which has increased the burden of Rs. 58 billion is the culmination of cruelty, abuse and brutality to people ravaged by inflation.
The only way to get rid of the tyranny of inflation, he said, was to get rid of the enemies of the people and the fake government.
The price of 15 rupees per kilogram of ghee and the price of 15 rupees per litre cooking oil relief packs are being hiked, the opposition leader said. The price of edible oil has risen to Rs 75 a litre last month and the price of ghee has risen to Rs 66 a kilo.
Sheikh Baz Sharif said the budget deficit, which has reached a record high of more than 4.3 trillion, is proof of economic catastrophe.
Shehbaz Sharif went on to say that the budget deficit has reached a record high of over 4.3 trillion, a sign that the national economy is deteriorating.
The largest budget deficit in the country’s history is refuting the government’s claims of increasing revenue and national income.
