IHC to hear PTI chief's bail plea in cipher case today

IHC to take up PTI’s plea on Aug 4

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday fixed PTI’s petition against the acceptance of the hearing of the resignation of 11 MNAs by the Speaker National Assembly after the registration office’s objections were withdrawn.

Acting Chief Justice Aamer Farooq will hear the case tomorrow [August 4].

PTI has attached a Power of Attorney and, as directed by the Registrar’s Office, named its 123 MNAs as respondent in this case.

Petitioner Asad Umar has challenged the resignation of the 11 MNAs who accepted the PTI in stages by the Speaker National Assembly. The request said that notification to all 123 members of the PTI should be cancelled because they had resigned from the assembly.

It further stated that the Speaker has no right to continue to await the resignation of other members.

The registry has contested the petition and instructed the petitioner to remove it.
