Nawaz victim of political vengeance: court

IHC throws out plea seeking ban on airing Nawaz Sharif’s speeches

By

Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday rejected the petition seeking a ban on airing speeches of former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif on television channels.

IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah rejected the request for Nawaz Sharif’s speech and declared the petition inadmissible.

The verdict stated that the intervention of the Islamabad High Court to ban the speeches of the former prime minister and PML-N Supreme was incorrect.

The Chief Justice of IHC pointed out that the court cannot directly intervene when there are other procedures in the law, adding that the prohibition of Nawaz Sharif’s speech is not of public importance.
