IHC suspends Umar Amin Gandapur’s disqualification order

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has suspended Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) order disqualifying Federal Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur’s brother Umar Amin Gandapur over violation of code of conduct in connection with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) local government polls.

During the course of the case, the plaintiffs’ lawyers argued that the Election Commission issued the order without due process as only a fine of Rs 50,000 could be imposed after a summary investigation and only if the code of conduct was complied with. Take further action. violated again.

Lawyers further argued that the plaintiff’s brother, who is also a federal minister, was fined, while Umar Amin was disqualified for breaching the code of conduct.

Earlier, the committee declared Umar Amin Gandapur ineligible for the post of mayor of Deraa and barred him from continuing to campaign in the area.

On the other hand, the ECP lifted Ali Amin Gandapur’s ban on visiting Dera Ismail Khan.
