ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday suspended the judgment of the single judge who directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to rule in a foreign funding case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) within 30 days.
Chief Justice IHC Athar Minallah and Justice Babar Sattar heard the PTI’s intra-court appeal.
The bench suspended the order and sent notices to 17 political parties and the ECP, seeking their responses on May 17.
Notably, PTI has filed an in-court appeal against IHC’s single-tribunal decision instructing the ECP to rule on a foreign funding case against that party within 30 days.
The party’s secretary general, Assad Omar, appealed the order.
In its petition, PTI accuses the committee of targeting only PTI and has sought direction from the court to the ECP to rule on similar cases against PML-N, PPP and all other political parties within a month.
PTI has had the ECP and 17 political parties appear in the case.
