Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday asked the federal government to respond to a petition to appoint consultants with dual citizenship.

During the court proceedings, Member National Assembly Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha said that according to the law, Prime Minister Imran Khan’s advisers cannot be part of the federal cabinet then how they were attending the meetings.

Deputy Attorney General Raja Khalid Mahmood said in his speech that consultants cannot be part of the cabinet, but everyone can be part of the subcommittee.

After a brief debate, the court postponed the hearing and sought a response from the federal government within two weeks.

Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha said after hearing media interviews that it was unacceptable for unelected people to make decisions for Pakistan.

The leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) claimed that Prime Minister Imran Khan has once again turned from his standpoint.

He said that sensitive issues are being discussed in the federal cabinet and added that they want the court to make decisions based on the Constitution and laws.
