IHC issues show-cause notice to Imran in contempt of court case

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday issued a notice of grounds for contempt of court case against former Prime Minister and Pakistan Justice Movement (PTI) chairman Imran Khan.

The notice states that Imran posed contempt for a female judge’s threatening remarks at a rally in Islamabad’s F-9 park. “Therefore, you appeared before the IHC bench on August 31, 2022, and explained why a contempt action should not be brought against you,” the notice reads.

The notice further stated that the PTI chairman made threatening and insulting remarks to the judge because he wanted a verdict of his choice in the case before the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The notice alleges that the former prime minister made offensive remarks in an attempt to obstruct justice.

An Anti-Terrorism Tribunal (ATC) in Islamabad on Thursday granted Imran Khan provisional bail and instructed authorities not to arrest him until September 1.

Imran Khan appeared before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad and filed a petition for pre-arrest bail in a case where threats were thrown at police and a female judge.

The former prime minister said in the petition that the police opened a case against him in retaliation, asking the court to accept his request for pre-arrest bail.

Notably, Imran Khan registered a counter-terrorism case against Imran Khan at the Islamabad Magala Police Station after threatening Islamabad police and a female judge at a public rally.
