KARACHI: High floods of 560,000 kosek will pass through the Kotri Barrage today, with the unchecked water causing widespread damage and death in different parts of the country, the head of the Sukkur Barrage Control Office said on Saturday.
The Kotri Barrage is located on the Indus River between Jamsholo and Hyderabad in Sindh, where conditions have been bleak since the flooding began last month.
The Sukkur Barrage is in high flood waters as the reservoir receives 600,000 cubic feet of water from the Taunsa Barrage, the official said.
He insisted that 29,000 cubic seconds of water had been added to the reservoir in the past 24 hours.
He added that all canals originating from the barrage have been closed for an unspecified time in light of the expected flooding.
