Govt reopens petroleum imports after one month

Islamabad: The government decided to reopen the import of petroleum products because of increased demand due to the relaxation of the corona virus blockade.

According to the details, the government’s blockade measures to curb the spread of coronavirus have greatly reduced the use of petroleum products; however, as the government eased the blockade, the demand for gasoline and diesel began to increase.

According to a notice issued by the authorities, sales companies are now allowed to import gasoline and diesel, while oil refineries can import crude oil.

It should be mentioned here that last month the government imposed restrictions on the import of gasoline and crude oil, and instructed all oil marketing companies (OMC) to extract petroleum products from local refineries.
