ISLAMABAD: The government and its coalition partners have agreed to appoint Judge (retd) Maqbool Baqar as the new chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The names of the former Supreme Court justices were discussed during a meeting between Prime Minister Imran Khan and former President Asif Ali Zardari, according to sources with knowledge of the development.
The source further said that the government is confident that the National Assembly opposition leader will also support the government’s choice as Maqbool Baqar’s judicial career is spotless.
Government members hope that if all goes well, Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar will be the new head of the anti-corruption watchdog.
