French PM resigns as Macron gears up for reshuffle

Paris: French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe resigned on Friday, suggesting that President Emmanuel Macron carried out a government reorganization with a view to improving his green credibility and winning disillusioned voters before possible re-election .

The Elysee Palace said in a statement that Philip would handle government affairs until the new cabinet was appointed.

Since Macron announced in mid-June that he wanted to “regain” the presidency, people have been questioning Philippe’s job. In the reorganization of the French government, the prime minister proposed to resign before appointing the cabinet, but it can still be renamed.
