Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Tuesday that the first task of the former ruler is not the people, but the US dollar and the foreign policy formulated in the past are against the public interest.

At a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad on Tuesday, he said that the country had suffered due to the wrong decision of the previous ruler.

Imran Khan said that after the OIC conference, the position of the whole world on Afghanistan is with us, adding that emerging human tragedy in Afghanistan requires immediate action and the world supports our position on Afghanistan. He called for immediate measures to avert humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.

The prime minister said Pakistan s image has significantly improved at the international level in last three years. He said now the OIC and the international community acknowledge Pakistan s narrative.

PM Imran said, “Irrespective of liking and disliking of the Taliban rise in Afghanistan, the world should focus on the difficulties being faced by the 40 million people of Afghanistan.”

Khan went on to say that Pakistan can become a great country by focusing on self-confidence. He said that we must correct our system, insist on meritocracy, ensure the rule of law, and put Pakistan on the path of development and progress.

PM Imran also congratulated the Foreign Office for successfully conducting the 17th Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers  of OIC on last Sunday.

He urged officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to shift their attention from geopolitics to geoeconomics.
