Islamabad: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Thursday has strongly denounced the publication of blasphemous caricatures by French Magazine Charlie Hebdo.
The minister said in a statement that these caricatures have hurt the emotions of millions of Muslims around the world.
He said that Pakistan has expressed concern to the French government about this despicable act. He said that this kind of blasphemy should not be repeated, but the behavior behind it must be implemented.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan is a democratic country and believes in freedom of speech. But he said that freedom of speech does not mean that anyone can harm the emotions of others.
The Foreign Minister pointed out that Islamophobia and xenophobia have increased worldwide.
He expressed his belief that the world will take immediate steps to stop this behavior and trend.
