FM Bilawal defends former PM Imran Khan’s visit to Russia

NEW YORK: Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari defended former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to Russia at a news conference in the United States, saying the visit was in line with foreign policy.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari told a news conference that Pakistan has always played an active role in ensuring regional peace and stability as peaceful coexistence is one of the main objectives of our foreign policy.

Islamabad has adopted a comprehensive counter-terrorism strategy and has developed an effective national action plan to deal with extremism and terrorism in the country, he told the media in New York on Friday.

Talking to media in New York on Friday, he said that Islamabad adopted an integrated strategy to counter terrorism and formulated an effective National Action Plan to tackle extremism and terrorism in country.

He said that India has openly violated the international laws and resolutions passed by the United Nations regarding Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir by taking illegal and aggressive measures in occupied territory. He said the solution to the Kashmir issue is essential for peace and stability in the South Asian region.

He said Pakistan has always helped the Afghan people in every difficult time and has hosted millions of refugees. He warned the world that the escalation of the crisis in Afghanistan would affect the entire region.
