Law enforcement agencies, on the other hand, have cordoned off the area and have turned to the bomb squad for help.

Police said the nature of the explosion could not be determined at this time, but an investigation was ongoing.

Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo condemned the blast and said terrorists were trying to destroy Sibi’s historic mela (fair).

“This act of terrorism is a conspiracy against the hard-working people of Sibi,” he said, adding that the provincial government will ensure that all conspiracies to hinder Balochistan’s development are planned.
