Islamabad: Following the instructions of Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FIA) formed an 11-person team on Friday to investigate the report submitted by the Sugar Commission.
According to the details, the team will investigate the illegal export of sugar to Afghanistan and will also find evidence of money laundering.
Previously, Prime Minister Imran Khan had instructed the Federal Revenue Commission (FBR), the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and the FIA to investigate the report of the Sugar Commission.
The Prime Minister’s Accountability System and Special Assistant to the Ministry of Interior Mirza Shazad Akbar has written to the Governor of Pakistan, the Pakistan Competition Commission and the three provinces in this regard.
The federal government gave 90 days to submit an executive report on the matter, and at the same time instructed FBR to investigate the benami transaction of the sugar factory and collect the owner’s financial records.
In addition, based on the facts reported by the Sugar Commission, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was ordered to determine the person in charge.
