Islamabad: Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar said that in light of instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan for setting up Provincial Finance Commissions in the provinces, an effective commission would be established in Punjab.
When presiding over the meeting here to discuss the issue of the Provincial Finance Committee, the minister said that the implementation of the Provincial Finance Committee is very efficient, which was established in the KP by the former PTI government.
The meeting deliberated and discussed in detail the establishment of a finance committee in Punjab.
In view of the successful implementation and experience of the Finance Committee of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, specific recommendations have been made to make the Finance Committee of Punjab effective.
The meeting also decided that within one month of mutual consultation between the two provinces, another meeting will be held to develop a final action plan based on all the recommendations.
Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht, KP Finance Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Planning Secretary, Provincial Finance Minister and senior officials also attended the meeting.
