CTD arrests two in connection with Peshawar blast

Peshawar: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Special Investigation Unit has arrested two suspects in connection with the investigation into the bombings in the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the previous day.

It is understood that 7 rounds of 9MM pistols have been collected at the incident site, and the police have also recorded the wounded’s statements.

Meanwhile, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Khan Raziq Police Station has written a letter to the CTD requesting that the FIR for the incident be registered under the Murder, Attempted Murder and Terrorism section.

On the other hand, the death toll from a devastating explosion inside a mosque in the Kocha Risaldar district of Peshawar has risen to 56 and more than 190 injured.

Before Friday’s prayers began, explosions ripped through the city’s Kocha Risaldar area, shattering interiors and strewn with broken glass.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said in a tweet that the government has all the information on the source of the terrorists and is going after them with all their might.

The prime minister said he had been personally overseeing the operation and coordinating with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and other law enforcement agencies following the cowardly terrorist attack on Imambara in Peshawar.

Imran Khan further extended his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the recovery of the injured.
