Lahore: Pakistan confirmed 28 more deaths from novel coronavirus in one day as the nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 1,225 and positive cases surged to 59,151.
According to the latest data from the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), 1,446 people have been tested positive for COVID-19 within 24 hours.
Sindh remains the province most affected by the pandemic, followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Till now 21,118 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Punjab, 23,507 in Sindh, 8,259 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 3,536 in Balochistan, 1,879 in Islamabad, 638in Gilgit-Baltistan and 214in Azad Kashmir.
Quarantine centers in 462 hospitals are providing treatment for patients, where 7,295 beds can be provided.
Testing and recovery
Pakistan has so far conducted 499,399 coronavirus tests and 8,491 tests in the past 24 hours. The country has recovered 19,142 coronavirus patients, but many are in critical condition.
