Cold wave in Karachi likely to intensify over next two days: Met Office

Karachi: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) stated that the cold wave currently sweeping Karachi is expected to intensify in the next two days and the temperature will drop to 8 degrees Celsius.

The Bureau of Meteorology stated that the lowest temperature recorded in the city on Sunday night was 9 degrees Celsius, adding that due to the fog this morning, the visibility near Karachi Airport was reduced to about 2.5 kilometers.

Currently, the city is affected by the northwest wind at a speed of 5 kilometers per hour, and the humidity in the atmosphere is as high as 90%.

According to the latest weather update released by PMD, the temperature in the city is expected to remain between 8 and 10 degrees Celsius in the next two days.

The Bureau of Meteorology said in a statement: “The weather is expected to be cold and dry in most parts of the country, but today the hilly areas are very cold.”

However, rain and snow are expected in the upper parts of the country, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

PMD said that on Tuesday, cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country, while the hilly areas will be very cold.
