COAS visits Army Medical Corps in Abbottabad


Abbottabad: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the Army Medical Corps (AMC) Center Abbottabad on Friday.

According to the details shared by ISPR, COAS laid a wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and provided Fateha upon arrival. COAS nailed the rank badge and officially appointed Lieutenant General Nigar Johar as the first female general to be appointed as the commander of AMC Colonel.

In his speech, COAS praised AMC’s contribution to ensuring high standards of health care during peace and war. COAS said that when natural disasters occur at home and abroad, AMC always responds to the call of duty. Our doctors and paramedics have been frontline fighters in the fight against COVID-19 and have demonstrated exemplary commitment and determination to the safety and well-being of the Pakistani people.

COAS continued to add that the first three-star female general in the history of the Pakistan Army was appointed as the AMC Colonel Commander, which is a very proud thing for the Pakistani army and the country.

It is imperative to appreciate the rapid progress of medical science; he encourages doctors and nurses to align themselves with the best and special practices of modern military and healthcare science.
