COAS, CJCSC condoles death of Indian CDS Bipin Rawat, his wife and others

RAWALPINDI: General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Staff of the Army (COAS) and General Nadim Raza, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCSC) vs. General Biping Rawat, Minister of Defense of India His wife and his tragic death in the helicopter crash and the loss of their precious lives expressed their condolences in India.

“General Nadeem Raza, CJCSC & General Qamar Javed Bajwa, COAS express condolences on tragic death of CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife and loss of precious lives in a helicopter crash in India,” Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Babar Iftikhar wrote on Twitter.

Earlier today, Indian Defense Minister General Biping Rawat and 12 others were killed in a helicopter crash. One survivor is being treated.

Rawat is India’s first chief of defense staff. This position was established by the Indian government in 2019 and is considered to be closely related to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The 63-year-old was aboard a Russian-made Mi-17 helicopter with his wife and other senior military officers, which crashed near a destination in southern Tamil Nadu.
