Beijing: In response to a letter from Pakistan students at the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB), Chinese President Xi Jinping encouraged them to understand China and communicate with young people to strengthen community building. The Global Times reported that humanity has a common future.
Pakistani students staying in Beijing were well taken care of, and students returning to Pakistan received personal protective equipment such as masks from China, which deeply moved their hearts and prompted them to write to Chairman Xi.
The students wrote this letter and sent it through the university in April to commemorate the friendship between the two countries during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the letter, the students shared the university’s experience in controlling epidemics and maintaining their studies, their experiences in studying and living in China, and witnessing the rapid development of the country.
In an interview with the Global Times, these students expressed their excitement at receiving a reply from Chairman Xi. They emphasized that China and Pakistan are true friends in trouble together, and highly praised China’s prevention and control efforts and its contribution to the world pandemic.
This enthusiastic interaction happened before the 69th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan on Thursday.
Xi Jinping learned that the students had accumulated a wealth of knowledge and made many Chinese friends while studying in China. Xi Jinping said that he was happy with their achievements.
Xi Jinping said that he learned that many foreign students expressed their support for the Chinese people in various ways in the fight against COVID-19 in China.
“A friend in need is a friend indeed,” he said, adding that China will continue providing various help to all foreign students studying in the country.
Xi Jinping welcomes outstanding young people from other countries to study in China. He also encourages students to communicate more with their peers in China, and to work hand in hand with young people from all over the world to contribute to the promotion of people-to-people connections and the establishment of a common future community for humanity.
