ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Attorney General Khalid Javed said on Thursday that he cannot defend Section 20 of the Prevention of Electronic Crime Act (PECA) regulation.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) held a hearing on the petition against PECA regulations. The Attorney General informed the court that the government has stopped implementing Article 20 of the Act and has decided to consult all stakeholders in this regard.
Khalid Javid further said that when he informed Prime Minister Imran Khan of Article 20, the Prime Minister said “How did this happen?”
Meanwhile, IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah said all politicians and vloggers could go to jail if defamation turns into a criminal case.
